Editorial Standards

Kitchen Yum Ideas exists to help home cooks make food that’s worth cooking. The recipes and articles you read here go through a real editorial process before they reach your screen. This page explains how it works, who is responsible for it, and how to reach us if you find a mistake.

Recipe development and testing

Every recipe on this site is developed and tested by Claire Adams in her home kitchen. A recipe is not published until it has been cooked at least three separate times, with at least one of those tests done on a different day to confirm consistency. Substitutions and variations listed in a recipe are all tested before they appear in the article.

We do not publish recipes that have only been theoretically developed or scraped from other sources. If you read it here, we cooked it.

Fact-checking

Before any article goes live, the following are reviewed and verified:

  • Ingredient quantities and measurement units.
  • Cooking times, oven temperatures, and equipment requirements.
  • Nutrition estimates (calculated using standard nutritional databases).
  • Storage and food safety guidance.
  • Any ingredient substitutions or dietary claims.

Articles that reference health, nutrition, or food safety claims are reviewed against current published guidance from sources like the USDA, FDA, and recognized culinary references.

Editorial review

Each article is drafted, set aside for at least a day, and then re-edited with fresh eyes before publication. This second pass catches errors, unclear instructions, and places where the writing wanders. Readability and clarity matter to us as much as accuracy.

Claire Adams is the editor of every article published here. She is responsible for the accuracy, clarity, and quality of the content.

Updates and corrections

Recipes evolve. As we learn new techniques, find better ingredients, or hear from readers about issues, we update older articles. When a recipe is significantly revised, we note it on the page. If we publish something incorrect, we correct it as soon as we are aware of the error and add a correction note to the article.

If you find an error or have a question about how a recipe was tested, please contact us. We respond within a few business days.

Sponsored content and affiliate links

Some articles include affiliate links to products we genuinely use and recommend. When you buy through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Sponsored content, when it appears, is clearly labeled as such at the top of the article. Our editorial recommendations are never influenced by sponsorship arrangements.

Image sourcing

Most photos on this site are taken or generated by us, with our recipe development sessions. When we use stock photography, licensed images, or AI-generated images, they are clearly within our editorial license. If you believe an image on this site has been used without proper permission, please contact us and we will review and respond within 48 hours. See also our AI & Content Policy.
